What Being A Blogger Says About You

On my way home the other night, I found my mind wandering [as per usual], and I was thinking about how much I’ve learned about myself from blogging.  But broader and more important than that, I was thinking about all the bloggers I know, admire, and have connected with in the past 4.5 years.  I think we all have some very distinct qualities because we are bloggers.  Maybe we had them before, and channeled them more with blogging, or maybe blogging really showcased these things for the first time.  Whatever way it is, I think all bloggers in some way, are all of these five things…

The Dish: Why Blog Design Is Super Important

thecasseroledishfeature2why blog design is super important

A long, long time ago I wrote [on my old blog!] a post about how I’m insanely picky with blog design, and how you totally have options when it comes to designing your own blog.  You can obviously hire someone, go with a pre-made template, or do it all yourself.  I still stand by everything stated in that post, but I want to tell you some particular things that I believe make for a great design, and some “no-no’s” which you have likely heard before.  After that I will lay out some great options that you have if you, yourself, are about to revamp your blog design!

ten favorite wordpress plugins

I am super excited about this!  I had to debate between a few when I got to around #8.  I did NOT want to give you guys a forever long list.  So, that means that THESE ten are the BEST that I have used, and 2 years later, still utilize.  Not to say there aren’t other plugins that are great, but these just make everything easier, daily.

Say you start a new blog [like I have, and Lisa has converted hers to reflect more of her current interests!] So what after that?  I am going to be brutally honest here.  IT IS HARD.  It is basically like starting over. Because you are.  You’re starting over in a new niche.  And, you are going to have to reach out to other people, and basicall, just work it.   But here are the top four things that I think you need to do when starting to blog in a new niche.
